10 Money Rules for Parents to Live By from Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, September 2008, is a good read!
These are good rules to live by! The best rule would be to live what you want them to. If you tell them they can't have something because you don't have the money right now, but you stop and buy a $5 coffee, it's a mixed message. Also, no one is perfect, and making mistakes is a great learning tool. Let the kids learn the value of a dollar the hard way, earn it. They'll figure out soon that if they spend their $10 on some toy, they won't have it to spend on the $50 video game!
