Super Savings - Walgreens today **Updated

**I missed the revlon nail polish deal, which is no biggie, I only wanted to get a couple newer colors. I have plenty to choose from already. My neighbor cleaned out her stash on me, her Mom is an Avon Rep, so I'm sure I only have a fraction of her stuff!!!

I did make it back to Walgreen's for a round 2 on the Robitussin deal. I used the $10 coupon from the first, a $10/$40 internet coupon, a $3/$10 in store (grand opening) coupon, the $10 gift card from my points and the "Half" coupon code for photos online. I ordered over 100 prints and paid under $10 for them. It was worth the trip.**

I like working close to CVS and Walgreens. I can pop in quickly on my way home so I don't have to plan a weeks trip!

Today I took advantage of the $3.99 Robitussin with the buy 3 get $10 Walgreen bucks at the register. A Call to Higher Places has a link to a $3/1 coupon. I was able to print 9. Since I work 3 days this week that's what I needed.

So I spent $2.97 opp, got $10 to spend on the next trip. Plus I finally got my Walgreen's gift card today in the mail. You can start earning yours just Join MyPoints NOW!

Wednesday, I'll stop at CVS for the nail polish deal too, I just need to get my coupons ready for that.

Stumble It!

Organized coupons

My coupon Binder Video at Kingdom First Mom. My coupons are not organized in any fashion at the moment. I have a stack of flyers, an envelope in my purse and 2 empty sorters. I prefer the binder method. It just looks more manageable to me, easier to see what you have, easier to toss expired ones. I am adding a binder like this to my "back to school" shopping list and then find the trading card holders where ever!

Super Savings... Saturday!!!

Ok, so I was a little busy to post on Saturday what with the soccer game, dance practice, baseball practice & normal things like food & cleaning!

But I did run into CVS Saturday for a quick trip. I used my gift card from my points. Join MyPoints NOW!

I had a $25 card plus I had earned a $5 card from the Hershey promotion around Valentine's Day.

I picked up some Flintstones vitamins for the kids buy one get one 50% off minus the $2 I had in coupons & luckily I was able to take advantage of the "Contour Glucose Monitor" deal. It was on sale for $14.99 with $14.99 extra care bucks. I found a coupon for up to $30 off so it worked out that they paid me $14.99 to take the thing home & I found there is a mail in rebate on my box... hmmm so if I send that in I'll have $30 minus the postage... not to shabby! I think I might have spent a couple dollars out of pocket, but I had to buy an ice pack for out baseball bag & some wet wipes for the bathroom that weren't on sale. Still not too shabby for a 15 minute shopping trip with only a little planning.

The funny thing was I ran into my Mom at the checkout & gave her my other Contour coupon so she got the $14.99 too. She may think I'm nuts but she's got $14.99 she didn't before!!!

Super Saving Saturday

Ok, CVS shopped yesterday, with both kids in tow after their flu shots, so it's amazing I was able to do it at all... While I checked out they played with the automatic door, so I was a LOT distracted. I know the Dr. told me they hear just fine, but isn't there a pill to get them to LISTEN...

$39.99 ECBs

Bonus CRT coupons $2 on CVS Tussin, $1.50 off Sudacare, $2.50 off any $10 pain reliever purchase, $5 off Dove Skin Vitalizer

OOP $3.54
Plus I have a $5 ECB left
I wasn't happy with this CVS, the Charmin rang up wrong & I missed it, plus they took my MFG coupons out of the cost for the Shrek the third movie deal, so I had to go back & buy a tide for $5.44 & I picked up 2 packs of wrigley gum with my B1G1F coupon so #3 total was $6.88 after tax. I have plans for my ECB for next week, so I didn't use it. They also wouldn't let me use 2 coupons the b1g1free vitamin deal, technically I did buy two... Oh yea the candy was halloween leftovers & the kids got 2 treats because they were brave flu shot getters!

I wasn't able to get any glucose monitors, but my hope is to be able to pick up a couple next week. I was able to get 3 of the diabetes coupon books that everyone on the web is talking about, so I have coupons to pick up 3 monitors free after the coupon + $20 ECBs. That'll be $60 in ECBs, I am planning on donating the monitors, or giving them to my niece who is diabetic. I am going to see if my CVS closer to home has any monitors today, doubtful, but worth the try, if not I'll stop on my way to the Dr. on Monday!

Summary $ Out of Pocket = $46.37
ECBs earned = $36.99
Savings = 124.76

I also have the $10 ECB for the Shrek movie, next week CVS has Campbells soup B1G1F, I hae a $1/10 coupon & the rebate form for $5 off the movie, so we'll be paying $4.99 for that, sweet!

I already started working on next weeks list. Dimetapp is back on sale $4.99, with buy 2 get $5 ECB. We have already used what I bought in October. Plus Tylenol is back with a spend $15 get $5 ECBs. I also think that the register coupon for the Dove skin Vitalizer is also in next weeks ad with ECBs ($12.49 - $5 CRT = $7.49 = $5 ECB). I found the flyer here.

Back to School Savings Already

It is hard to imagine that "Back to School" could even be creeping into our vocabulary, but August is almost here & even though we don't start until after Labor Day, the shopping will begin in just a week or two. I am sure for those who go back earlier or are off to college it has already begun.

I have started scouring the web for the best
online shopping coupons. Coupon Chief is a favorite stop.

I know a big part of my list is shoes. I think that it ranks somewhere above underwear & below pencils. Shoe Buy is a store I have grown fond of. I haven't yet bought kids shoes from there but I noticed they have the IT shoe my son has been BEGGING for. The prices are already great & add to that discounts from Coupon Chief... Woohoo. Bargains!

Coupons

There is one thing I cannot stand about our Satellite service & that is ALL the shopping channels we have to wade through. I will admit to shopping at one but only online, I don't sit there & watch all day waiting to pounce on a deal. That would be the Home Shopping Network (HSN). I can say that the bed I sleep in, the comforter & sheets as well, the laptop I am typing on, even our video camera have been purchased from HSN over the years. I have found the best deals in their clearance bins (the bedding) & taken advantage of their flex pay (bed, camera & laptop). The only thing better than hitting a good deal is having Home Shopping Network Coupons when you shop.

I love shopping online. I will be searching CouponChief for coupons before I checkout, no matter where I am shopping. There is no reason a good deal on something you need or want & have saved for can't be a better or great deal!!!

Me, coupons & shopping

In reading The Simple Dollar Synergizing the shopping list and the coupon box to save big money at the grocery store - I have come to realize that there probably aren't that many money site out there that don't mention the above.

My shopping experiences are a tad different, we have an Aldi & a Wal-Mart Super Center, so while it is sad to say, I have only been in one of our local grocery stores since October. We also go to a local meat market convenience store for in between shopping trips & if I only need a few things.

Needless to say, I don't use a lot of coupons, Aldi doesn't take them & if they did, there wouldn't be very many brand name items anyways. Frequently (9 times out of 10) I am buying something at the Wal-Mart that wouldn't have a coupon (store brand) & is usually priced cheaper than the brand name minus the coupon. Of course I do check the coupons, since my Mother In Law still sends them. I'll cut out something I think I'll use (shampoo, batteries, toothpaste, dishwasher soap), otherwise I'm sorting through a ton of coupons to find what I need.

I don't shop ads, since Aldi doesn't have any & Walmart doesn't run real loss leaders that often. If our local grocery stores send out the coupons for free stuff again, I'll go, use those coupons & try to match with manufactures coupons (for freebies, I'll play the game!)

I do a lot of buying in bulk (Sam's Club), free samples online, etc.

My best weapon in the war over my $1 is my price list. I update it everytime I go to the store (you'd be suprised how much the price of 12 egss fluctuates over a year). It is an excel file, all I have to do is enter the quanity needed of each item, when I'm done I sort by quantity & print out the list from 1 & up. It even totals it for me, so all I have to do is grab the list & my money (I try to remember to add 20% to my total, for that just in case scenario.)

I also try to shop with a plan in mind, a menu plan that is. I know my kids could eat grilled cheese or eggs & toast daily, but I like a little variety. So I try to have some meals in mind when I make my list. Then I don't have to run back the evening I am cooking for something I don't have. It does make it hard, when you buy chips to serve with sandwiches on Wed, but since you shopped Monday they were gone by Tuesday evening....grrr.

I guess the key to my successful shopping trips is to know what I am getting. I have a core list of things I always keep on hand & I get the best price I can on those, giving me a little wiggle room when dh grabs the wrong bologna & costs us $3 extra or we need to go to the meat market for that extra bag of chips!!!
